Examination Creation Updates

Pearson VUE examinations support section references. Using section references allows for complex delivery routing without the use of a Groovy script, which is only supported by the Pearson VUE Athena Desktop (A-DE) examination driver. This approach is compatible with both Desktop and Browser (A-BE) examination drivers and contributes to a smooth transition from A-DE to A-BE.

When setting up an examination’s layout, authors can reference an existing section and use the reference in multiple places throughout the layout. Adding a new section reference is easy, and once added, the reference will be displayed in the layout tree. Selecting a section reference from the layout will show a link in the details pane that, when clicked, opens the parent section’s details. All edits must be made to the parent section. If the author decides to remove the parent section, they will receive a warning that this will impact all sections referencing it. If they choose to proceed, all associated section references will be removed.

Pro! allows test developers to specify multiple supplemental materials to be displayed when the candidate clicks the Help button. Test developers easily include images from Pro!’s media library or upload PDF files. Additionally, the display order and name are easily specified.

COM external item types have been decommissioned. Publishing an A-DE examination that previously used COM external items generates native Pearson QTI. As the examination is published to Pearson VUE’s Desktop driver, the item’s HTML content is translated to Pearson’s native QTI. The translation process might have to make slight changes to conform to the QTI feature set. All changes are recorded in a separate file and are part of the published output.

User Defined Fields (UDF) Display and Export

The UDF string value is displayed as plain text, without any formatting, when viewed as a column in the Pro! tabular display. Similarly, the plain text, which appears in both the search results and poolbook details, columns are exported as plain text.

Item Search Classification Criteria Page

When dealing with numerous classifications, scrolling up and down to add or view selections can slow you down. We’ve made it easier! The “Add” button and selected classifications now stay visible at all times, eliminating the need to scroll—making your workflow faster and more seamless!

Semantic Similarity

Clients who aren’t yet set up to use Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) can still enjoy the powerful semantic similarity feature, but for a more focused set of items or passages. This allows Pro! to maintain peak performance while you take the feature for a test drive. Upgrading to a GPU host is quick and easy—simply unlock the potential with a license!

Manage Notification Emails

Mentors and Project Mentors may find their inboxes flooded with emails from multiple item writers. Project managers can choose whether or not to have Pro! send notification emails. Email notifications can be easily toggled on or off. This flexible setting is available for draft and active projects, allowing project managers to adapt quickly to the needs of their team—streamlining communication and keeping everyone focused!
